Programs
The programs of Imagine Grinnell work to strengthen the community in which we live. Through our history of building partnerships in the community, we are striving to become more vibrant and sustainable.
TreeCorps Volunteers.
A volunteering group dedicated to helping plant and maintain the newly planted trees in the 1000Trees post-derecho effort to replace our lost tree canopy. The TreeCorps is a unique intergenerational group putting in the work to make Grinnell a little greener, one tree at a time. Volunteers help with planting and caring for new trees and record them into an interactive Tree Registry database system. We’re always looking for more volunteers, and offer everything from one time event opportunities to recurring service commitments. We’d love to have you join the TreeCorps!
Grinnell Bike Share.
Grinnell Bike Share is a program of Imagine Grinnell, encouraging participation in a healthy outdoor activity while building community and increasing bike awareness in Grinnell. Bikes are available to rent for free at the Bikes to You location in Grinnell.
Marvin Garden.
Spanning the Grinnell and Brooklyn, Iowa communities, Imagine Grinnell participates in maintaining one of the community gardens, Marvin Garden. These “Giving Gardens” offer fresh, local produce for anyone and everyone to harvest. The gardens are regularly maintained by volunteers and partners, ensuring any excess produce is delivered to local community centers.
The Giving Gardens are located throughout Grinnell and offer free produce for anyone. Individuals may stop by the gardens and harvest available produce. Each garden is maintained by different community groups and will grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, such as, spring peas, asparagus, kale, tomatoes, summer squash, eggplant, peppers, and many other items. Follow Grinnell Giving Gardens on facebook and see when produce is available.
Marvin Garden upkeep volunteers are needed for the following dates: August 21 & 28, September 4, 11, 18, 25. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please click the link below.

Coined a non-competitive ride, cyclists can choose to ride 25, 50 or 100-mile loops that all circle back to Grinnell’s downtown Central Park.
Trail Team.
Imagine Grinnell volunteers are working to build soft trails around Arbor Lake for biking and walking use. Plans to expand into other areas throughout Grinnell are underway. Become a part of this unique initiative to improve the walking and bike system in the Grinnell community.
