Support Our Initiatives!

Dear Friends,

Since 1985 Imagine Grinnell has helped make Grinnell the Jewel of the Iowa Prairie. Partnering with the City of Grinnell, civic organizations, Grinnell College, and Grinnellians of all ages, Imagine Grinnell has been the catalyst for a wide range of healthy and environmentally sound projects like:

1000+ Trees

An initiative centered around fundraising and organizing citywide tree planting events after the devastating August Derecho, we have distributed over 450 trees and seedlings this Spring alone! We provide free and wholesale priced trees, free tree delivery and planting options, and care and city permitting instructions. Another round of tree planting events will occur this Fall, so stay tuned.

TreeCorps and TreeRegistry

An intergenerational volunteer force helps the city plant and water trees in the parks and schools and assists residents with new tree planting and care. The TreeRegistry is an exciting collaboration with Grinnell College to identify, catalog and GPS plot all new trees planted in Grinnell, helping build data for a comprehensive urban forestry plan.

Plate to Plant Composting Program

This bicycle-based curbside compost service keeps kitchen food waste out of our landfill and solid waste stream to make high quality compost for our gardens.

Prairie Burn 100 Gravel Ride

A 25, 50, or 100 mile group gravel bicycle ride showcasing our beautiful Iowa countryside and building a larger community with riders coming from all over the Midwest to experience Grinnell.

Marvin Giving Garden

A permanent community garden working to provide free, fresh produce for whomever needs it. Last year our MICA food bank contribution was over 250 pounds!

South Lakes Grinnell

Rehabilitating Lake Nyanza and Arbor Lake happens every few decades. Exploring possibilities, funding, and design with City and civic groups like the Lions Club is just getting started!

SkatePark at Bailey Park

Helping the City fundraise and design, we finished a permanent, state of the art Skate and BMX park in less than three years! Skaters from across the Midwest stop in to enjoy “the best small skatepark in the Midwest.”

These programs require significant investment in volunteer hours and dollars. Imagine Grinnell can’t continue to make this kind of major positive change in our community without YOUR SUPPORT!

For over 37 years, inspired ideas and generous gifts from people like you have helped Imagine Grinnell build bike trails, improve parks, mentor projects and enhance a community known for a healthy lifestyle, respect for the environment, and great outdoor recreational facilities. This year, more than ever, we need your help to bring community-inspired ideas to life.
